Leading People Through Change
HACC Managers, Supervisors, Coordinators, Team Leaders and those responsible for leading change.
Note: Those who have attended the workshop ‘Leading and Motivating Teams’ will have already covered some of the material presented in ‘Leading People Through Change’
Program Content
This one day workshop explores the impact change has on a team, so team leaders can manage and respond appropriately to the emotional reactions and responses of team members. This program will provide strategies, to affect change in a positive way.
Topics include:
· Identifying the stages relating to change · Understanding the emotional reactions to change · Why some people are change agents and some resist change · Identifying and managing your own reactions to change and the reality of leading others · through it · Factors needed to implement successful change · The importance of staff participation and engagement in the change · Tools to engage staff in the change process · Conducting a Force Field Analysis · Cultivating awareness, respect and support in teams, during times of change · The importance of validating team and individual roles

A Journey Through Aged Care Services
Have you ever wondered how a client is referred to your program? What happens when the client becomes ill and is unable to participate anymore – where do they go and who is responsible for making sure they get there safely?
This informative session takes participants on a journey through HACC and beyond into other aged care service areas, including:
· HACC program aims and service examples · How assessment (including ACAS), care planning, access and referral to other HACC services or service areas works from the client perspective · Case studies on how care of complex needs is managed, including the role of direct care workers in this situation · How and why of funding and planning · Community care continual change and recent change, with case studies from the field · Networking activities so participants develop a clear picture of where they and their organisation fits in the aged care service system · Key websites and resources are provided to ensure you stay informed

Music Techniques for Dementia
The morning session will cover simple theory on music and the brain in relation to dementia. The different types of music techniques which can be implemented into various care settings to help foster supportive environments such as therapeutic singing, music and movement, and group music activities.
How to select the most appropriate group activity for older people and clients with dementia
Then the afternoon is all practical: everyone gets the opportunity to engage in activities discussed in the morning.
There is time for attendants to bring up difficult situations to problem solve as a group. DVD footage of music therapy in action will also be shown.

WORKING EFFECTIVELY WITH THE POLISH COMMUNITY - Thursday 29 July 2010
For all HACC workers and volunteers who support, or are likely to support individuals from Polish speaking communities
This program aims to raise cultural awareness of HACC workers in delivering services to people from Polish speaking communities. The course will include information about local demographics, customs, beliefs, health issues, attitudes towards older people and aged care; and barriers in accessing services & tips on working effectively with clients from Polish background.
This program is offered in partnership with the Migrant Information Centre (Eastern Melbourne) as part of the Understanding People from CALD Backgrounds Training Program
