From Marilyn Minister, Senior Program Advisor - Youth Services and Youth Justice, Department of Human Services "I write to advise you that as of 1 November 2008, Victoria Police are implementing new policy and procedures regarding National Criminal Record Checks (NCRC). This change is in line with police services throughout Australia and is being implemented to increase security and address privacy issues. As a result of the change, agencies will no longer be able to submit the 'Consent to check and release national police record' (VP form 820A - the yellow form) form on behalf of a person undergoing a national criminal record check. Under the new policy, applicants are required to undergo a 100-point identity check and lodge the application via post on their own behalf. The results of the national check would then be posted directly to the applicant. It will be possible for an agency to receive advice which will indicate the name of the applicant, the date received and the date the certificate is issued by Victoria Police, if an agency pays for the NCRC, and requests a “Confirmation Report”. Information about the new system can be found on the Victoria Police website – Our Service – Police Record Checks From Volunteering Victoria Not-for-profit and community organisations in Victoria or with offices in Victoria can continue to have the option of using CrimCheck. For more information on CrimCheck, contact Jim Corcoran of the Monash VRC at 9562 0414, through e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
