Some volunteer roles that involve working with children require a Working With Children (WWC) Check.

Volunteer organisations and agencies must ensure that their staff and volunteers who need a WCC Check have done so.

According to the Department of Justice in Victoria, the WWC is "being phased in over five years. Those who need a WWC Check must apply by the due date of their field of child-related work. The next due date is 30 June 2009. The WWC Check Unit Community Information and Education Officers will be travelling throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria to deliver Information Sessions to the general public."
