| Consultation: the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission |
|
The Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) is intended to provide governance oversight of not-for-profit organisations and provide a central point of contact and management. It is due to commence operation on 1 July 2012. Late in 2011 the federal government released three important papers for community consultation that lay out the foundations of the planned national not-for-profit regulator. What we’re doingVolunteering Victoria will provide feedback on the consultation papers on behalf of the Victorian volunteering community by contributing to a national submission being prepared by Volunteering Australia. VA will in turn contribute to the Community Council of Australia’s submission and is working with several other key bodies to align and combine responses. CEO Dianne Embry will also take part in a face-to-face community consultation session in Melbourne on 7 February. These sessions are open to the public: find out more and register.
